Creating Accessible Online Learning

During this interactive session, we will explore ways that can aid both designers and instructors in providing an accessible online learning environment. We will examine the principles of universal design for learning to and brainstorm on how these principles can be used as a guide in designing and developing online courses. We will address some of the challenges that may arise in online learning from both the instructor and student perspectives.
CSS Basics

Cascading Style Sheets are a powerful tool in the web designer and developer’s accessibility toolbox. This presentation explains what CSS is, how to get started designing with style sheets, and explores useful resources and techniques for creating fabulous and accessible websites.

Building a Case for Web Accessibility: Legal Requirements

This session will provide an overview of current legal issues pertaining to web accessibility, including a discussion of the pending Target.com litigation.
Testing for Accessibility (Testing Strategies)
Speaker: Sandra Clark

How does one test for accessibility? What are the requirements of a tester? What tools are out there for testing? Is there one tool that will do it all? Sandra Clark will go through the process of testing for accessibility and try to provide a ray of light in the murkiness that is testing for accessibility.
Web Content Management and Accessibility Compliance

During this session, Fran Swift, director of Systems Alliance's Web Effectiveness practice, will explore the process of developing and maintaining accessible Websites in distributed Web publishing environment using SiteExecutive.

Video and Multimedia: Supporting Different Needs and Platforms
Speaker: Vicki Leon

This session will demystify accessibility for multimedia. It will show examples of the ways multimedia can be made accessible. This will include captioning and video description for both web and DVD distribution. There will be examples of accessible DVDs, including talking DVD menus and how to produce them.
Writing for Accessible PDFs
Speaker: Sandra Clark

This session will cover tips and techniques for writing accessible PDFs in Word. The instruction will deal primarily with ways to write an underlying Word document so that it translates more successfully into an accessible PDF.
